Pilot Training in India

This is one of the classic ideas as Aviation is booming in India. Yet, I suggest you if possible do your pilot course abroad. There are 3 ways to become pilot after 12th in India.
1. Join in a DGCA approved flying school and complete your Private Pilot License (PPL) / Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and join as a pilot in an airline.
2. Complete your Bachelors in aeronautical engineering and then go through the above mentioned way.
3. Apply for exams like National Defence Academy (NDA) and become a government trained pilot with free of cost training. As of me, I suggest you to go through the 2nd way because once your aeronautical engineering is completed you are having a backup in life also you will be covering all the basics of aviation which is easy for you during pilot training and Interview. You may also find some other ways but these are efficient. All the Best for your future endeavours.

Best colleges for Pilot training in India.
There are pointers that must be noted before selecting a flying school. It's not like buying vegetables. One would be spending close to Rs.50L for the course and, hence one must decide which college is best. What are these pointers? The ability of flying school to impart quality training, availability of infrastructure, availability of aircraft for training, availability of flying space, good weather days etc.
All of the above are quite critical areas. There was a time when Indian flying schools were taking very long time to complete mandated hours of flying, and hence Indian students started going abroad.
But, the situation has changed in India for the better. It is therefore advised that for every prospective flying schools above factors should be judged before finally selecting one for admission.

If you would like to be a pilot in the Indian Air Force, you can do so by taking the NDA entrance exam after Class XII (Phys & Math). In this case your training is free and you will be paid a decent stipend throughout your three years of training at the National Defence Academy, followed by specialised training at the Air Force Academy. After this, you will be commissioned as a Flying Officer and posted as a pilot at an Air Force Station.
Note: Once you get into the air force, you cannot leave at your own discretion and there are legal tools to prevent IAF pilots from leaving the force. Pilots cannot be released unless they are not required by the IAF and the IAF permits them to leave.
Scholarships
~ The following scholarships are available at and administered through IGRUA, in Rae Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh):
1. Indian Airlines scholarships
Two scholarships of Rs 4,00,000, each given on merit-cum-means basis per batch.
2. Air India scholarships
Two scholarships of Rs 4,00,000, each given on merit-cum-means basis per batch.
3. Rajiv Gandhi Foundation
For two women pilots on merit-cum-means to the extent of Rs 3,00,000 each per batch.
4. Scholarships for SC/ST candidates
Rs 2,00,000 on training fee.
Additional Rs 2,00,000 by IGRUA to three SC/ST candidates per batch by selection on merit cum means basis.
Some state governments award scholarships to SC/ST candidates for training at IGRUA. Eligible candidates may approach the respective State SC/ST Welfare Directorate for the same.
5. JRD Tata Memorial scholarships
For four students, of an amount not less than Rs 1,00,000 on merit-cum-means basis. The JRD Tata Trust offers up to Rs 10 lakhs per year to trainees as decided by its Board of Directors.

You must have a minimum of 55% PCM in class 12th. If you are going to take your flying classes from government flying schools there will be an entrance test conducted by the Director General Civil Aviation or the DGCA. Being a pilot requires a lot of specialized technical training at various levels. In brief, the first level is that of a Student Pilot License (SPL), which allows the student to learn. After getting some training the student is provided with a Private Pilot License (PPL), which allows him to captain an aircraft without passengers. After gaining some training and experience he has to qualify for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), which allows him to captain an aircraft with passengers. This license is provided by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The CPL endorses what aircraft you can fly. Most importantly you must be physically fit and you must undergo a medical test. To become a pilot, you need to do CPL (Commercial Pilot License) program. You can do this in India or abroad. The big advantage of doing this from abroad is the training schools have training runways whereas most Flying schools in India depend on National or International airports which are very busy throughout the year, making training aircraft the least priority for Air Traffic Controllers. Most students who go abroad are able to finish the CPL within a year whereas it could take 2 to 3 years to complete the course in India. You generally need to do the Theory for CPL and do about 200 hours of flying to become a Pilot in India.
Australia and New Zealand are good places for doing CPL. In the city of Canterbury, New Zealand, you have one of the oldest flying schools, The Canterbury Aero Club. The school started in 1928 is a well-renowned place to pursue CPL and it would cost about 60,000 NZ $( about 24 lakhs) to do CPL. The general requirement is you should have completed 12th standard with Maths and Physics and should have done IELTS to enroll. You also should do a Class- I medicals to meet the Medical conditions. Do a program which consists of CPL with Instrument rating. You can complete the course within a year and then you can write the DGCA exams to qualify flying in India
