A type rating is a regulating agency's certification of an aeroplane pilot to fly a certain aircraft type that requires additional training beyond the scope of the initial license and aircraft class training.
A type rating is required for any aircraft over 12,500 lbs MGTOW and/or with a turbojet powerplant. There are also ratings for operating privileges.

Cessna 152 - Rs.7000-8000 per Hour
Cessna 172 - Rs.9000-11000 per Hour
P-16 - Rs.15000-18000 per Hour, etc.
Any candidate who gets enrolled for this professional training requires to complete 200 hours of flying, in order to get his/her CPL issued. Hence the total cost including accommodation + food goes around 30-40 lakhs.

Normally speaking, eligibility for admission to AME courses is 12th. But many institutes accept Diploma as equivalent to 12th and give admission. I would like to advise you that please check with your prospective institute about this.

Aircraft Maintenance will make you an aircraft technician and not a pilot.
To be a pilot you will have to do CPL Training.
You should although have passed class 12 with PCM 50% marks to go for CPL Training.
The aviation maintenance course will hold no good there. It will only add to your additional qualification and will find a place in your Resume.
