Yes, the degree you earned from AIME is valid. To be eligible for the degree, you must have passed an accredited Diploma examination in engineering or technology, or an equivalent examination recognised by the Council. Here are some other things to know about mechanical engineering degrees:Distance or online B.Tech programsThese programs are not valid in India, though some private institutes may offer them. Part-time M.Tech programsThese programs are available for postgraduate studies in mechanical engineering. The syllabus is the same as for full-time M.Tech programs, but the fees are lower. Eligibility criteriaEligibil

You are selecting a good option as the job opportunities for trained professionals in this field are immense, particularly with public sector organisations such as the ONGC, Oil India, polymer corporations of different states, petro-chemical research laboratories, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Chemicals. Over the last decade, plastics technology and polymer sciences have attracted multi-crore investments from some of the biggest industrial houses in India. Companies like Reliance, Spic, Nocil, Finolex and others have set up plants to produce raw materials as well as research laboratories to develop new products. Also, there are pla

Plastic engineering is about the generation of new plastic polymers, like substance quality and nature controlling molding, etc. To suit needs of construction, etc. It is good if done from IIT but nut better than CSE. Plastic engineering can have a rising scope as plastic has become the most widely used material.

Hello XYZ, Engineering branches that you are talking about are indeed very specialised branches. Obviously opportunities for placements are comparatively less in absolute terms as compared with other branches. But let me reiterate that these branches do have their niche in the market and requirement. Due to this these branches have come up for studies. But be rest assured, these and many more such rare subjects are available in UPSC reportoire as choices for candidates. So do not worry. Best wishes to you.

Not much. Plastic Engineering is a niche course and doesn't have much applicability anywhere else other than plastics field.

Future of plastic is very promising if the right course is pursued. For example monitor the advancements in the sector and prepare accordingly. As you now that almost all products are somehow related to plastic so the need for plastic specialist is inevitable.

Career scope of plastic engineering is really very low. Plastic industries are automated nowadays and don't require skilled workers. The companies tend to hire cheaper employees like laborers and ITI passed students and not specifically from plastic.

Scope of plastic mould technology is almost nil. Do it from CIPET otherwise it will be a waste to do so. Also, it is not equal to any other Diploma course. If you are thinking that it is equivalent to mechanical engineering and you will be eligible for government jobs, then you are misled. It is a separate course on its own and does not have government job openings as of now.

The scope is not very broad. It is not bigger than chemical engineering or petroleum engineering. It is just a new branch of engineering that still needs some more time to develop in India. It will take some more years to create a reasonable demand for plastic engineers.

No, not very much atleast. Plastic Manufacture is almost automated in large enterprises and smaller industries don't hire very much. If you do this course from a good college then you may have a possibility. But please don't pursue it thinking that it will be better than other streams. It is not better than CS ME or EE. So, think carefully, if you can get into a good college like CIPET then pursuing plastic engineering is worthy, otherwise not.
