Only by a small margin. But UCEED is still a good choice. NID is better for product, transportation, animation design.

You should apply for UCEED and AIEED. Perform your best in these exams to get a good college. Product design is available in many colleges but NID is the top college among them.

You can apply for UCEED or get admission into NID for Product design course. Product designer are paid quite good and are placed in good companies if the course is pursued from a good college like NID.

Design has better scope than animation and has been around longer than animation. Good institutes like NID, NIFT, etc. Provide good placements with high packages.

If you like design and have interest in it then sure pursue it without hesitation. It is a good course nevertheless. The choice of specialisation is completely dependent on you and your interests. All specialisations are good and have nearly same scope. In the end, if you are good at something you will have no trouble finding a job. I would suggest pursuing a course of your interest.

You can easily get a job after B.Des. So, you would need to decide what it is you want to do. M.Des is also a good option if you don't feel the need to work immediately.
