Psychology Eligibility

The interested students must have completed postgraduate degree in psychology, applied psychology, or a comparable discipline from an accredited university with at least a 55% grade point average. The candidate should have done their MA in Psychology with a specialisation or MPhil in Psychology from a recognised University. Some colleges also look for some work experience.Universities conduct entrance exams for admission to PhD, or accept UGC NET scores if students are able to get the desired scores. Through UGC-NET, students can get a scholarship in either JRF or SRF. Followed by the entrance exam, students will have to appear for a Personal Interview (PI), where they will also have to present their thesis or synopsis of their field of specialisation.

However, if you are keen on pursuing a program in Psychology then you can plan to pick M.A or M.SC Psychology.
The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing M.A/M.SC Psychology is having a graduation degree in any stream.
However, many of the reputed universities demand graduation degree with Honors in Psychology or Psychology as one of the subjects studied in graduation from any of the recognized college/university.
Some even ask for a minimum of 45-50% marks in graduation as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this course and some also conduct an entrance examination.

Therefore, minimum qualification required in becoming a psychologist or counselor is to get degree in any stream with an added diploma course in psychology or get membership in Association of Professional Psychologists.
