You'd need an M.Phil under an institution recognized by RCI to practice as a clinical psychologist. With a Ph.D. you can teach in colleges and universities, but can't practice. In my view, if you have a passion for both practicing and teaching, you can do an M.Phil and then a Ph.D. I hope it helps.

The basic eligibility for pursuing M.Phil. In English Literature is that the students must have earned their master's degree in English Literature or a related subject. The students should have secured at least 50% marks in Masters for admission to M.Phil. I hope it helps.

There is a lot of scope after M.A. Psychology. You can become a practicing psychologist/counsellor after getting the appropriate certifications. You can choose a career in Market research or even HR.
