Students can apply to Presidency University's BA and BSc (UG) programmes by taking the Bachelor's degree test (PUBDET). Students must pass the Master's degree entrance exam (PUMDET) in order to be admitted to the university's MA and MSc (PG) programmes. Separate entrance exams are administered for admission to Science and humanities degrees under the Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET).

PUMDET is generally conducted in the month of June-July. The entrance exam dates are informed in advance for students to prepare well for the test. Last year, PUMDET exam scheduled was revised. PUMDET 2023 exam was held on July 30. After the exam, PUMDET result is declared on the official website of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). Candidates are informed that the result for Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) is declared in the form of Rank Cards.

PUMDET 2024 application process is yet to start. The exam conducting body will release the PUMDET exam schedule soon at the official website of the exam. However, PUMDET 2023 application process was held between January 31 to February 21 on the official website of the exam. For this academic session, once the application form is released, candidates will be able to apply for PUMDET exam by visiting the official website of the WBJEE.  The PUMDET application process will be held online. After the results of PUMDET is declared online on the official website of WBJEEB exam page, PUMDET counselling will take place. WBJEEB will release the merit list of candidates who have qualified for the counselling. After the PUMDET result, the counselling and admission process is conducted on the basis of merit/rank card and scores. The verification of the rank list, documents will be done during the time of counselling. If an applicant is found ineligible, the candidature will be cancelled despite holding a rank card.

Counselling/seat allotment and provisional admission includes:A separate notification with details of counseling/seat allotment and admission procedure will be published in Board’s web site shortly after publication of result.Course-wise availability of seats provided by the Presidency University will also be published before counselling and allotment.

Special facilities to PwD candidates are as follows:Concessional application fees: PwD candidates are eligible for 40% concession on application fees. Requirements in terms of Residential/Domicile Criteria are as follows:There is no Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the examination.However, the State (West Bengal) Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for admission in any reserved category of seats.The candidate needs to download the required proforma as per the detail given in section 6.1 below and keep the certificate ready to be produced during counselling, admission etc. If the certificate is then found to be invalid, the candidate will lose the opportunity of admission under reserve category.
