Once the candidate has registered for MA programme, the performance of bachelor's degree is evaluated for admission. The university considers the merit in the last qualifying exam for admission to MA programme. An admission test is conducted for MA Human Rights and Human Development and Mass Communication & Videography as per an unofficial source. The university releases a selection list on the official website of the university to announce the names of the shortlisted aspirants.

Rabindra Bharati University MA English is a two year programme available in full-time and distance education mode. It is one of the popular MA specialisations offered at RBU Kolkata. Candidates who have passed BA (Hons) in English can apply for MA English programme.
