RGIPT follows the seat reservation policy for the BTech programme as per the Government of India directive. In addition, following the Government of India directive and to encourage technical education among the girls, few seats are reserved for female candidates on supernumerary basis over the current strength. However, certificates for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ PwD/ EWS category must be submitted during the time of admission.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology follows the reservation policy as per the Government of India directives. RGIPT follows the reservation policy as per the Government of India directive. Also, to encourage technical education among the girls, the institute reserves 17% of the seats for female candidates on a supernumerary basis over the current strength. The institute has a reservation policy for various categories as follows:
