Hello Divi,
No, counselling us based on marks obtained in entrance exam. But of course from this year onwards there will be no entrance exam. Admissions and counselling will be based on marks obtained in class 12th marks only. Again, different reservations as per rules will be applicable.

The closest formal qualification currently available is either in Sanskrit or Indology.
There are a few institutes that I would personally recommend, based on my acquaintances with the alumni and campuses viz.
Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat
MSU, Baroda has a long and proud history in Indology and Sanskrit studies. The Oriental Institute has the unique honour of being home to the Critical Edition of the Ramayana.
But for M. A. and M. Phil courses you should look to these faculties
Department of Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit, MSU - The focus of the courses here is language and literature
Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya

Oh, you might get any question in UPSC. Besides, the Hindu mythology is closely related to Indian History. It forms a great part of the Ancient Indian History part. I suggest you dig up some facts regarding Mahabharata and Ramayana.
I hope it helped.
Thanks.

Hi Rahul since its a minority college ofcourse there is muslim quota. But that shouldn't discourage u at all.Infact I am myself a sikh. The discipline aspect is better than what u would find in other colleges.See its all because of the way things are stereotyped that u have such q's in mind.Religion based ragging no no that's a complete myth.U ll have the best time of ur life here dont worry.before my admission i had the same apprehensions as you but fortunately i have found the best ppl here.so dont worry on these aspects. All the best!
