As a graduate in EE, you are already into the robotics at least the theory and practice. What you need is to focus on what I call the mechanics of it: This means circuit design, mechanical considerations, logic circuits, processors, hardware, embedded and loadable software, and so on. There is a specialisation track in robotics according to the National Society of Professional Engineers. So, your thinking of something that is a growing part of engineering thought. Mechatronics is not purely electronics or instrumentation. This involves both the streams mechanical and electronics. No doubt this will be useful for robotics. But keep in mind you have to clear all the basic concepts of mechanical and electronics in this field. Good luck.
