RPF SI exam is conducted in multiple shifts, as a result of which, there is are variations in the difficulty level of question papers. To adjust the variations in the difficulty level of question papers across various sessions, normalisation of marks is done. The normalisation is done using the standardised formula.

The details regarding the marking scheme is explained below:There are 120 questions in total and each question is for one markThe maximum score is 120For each correct answer, a candidate is awarded one markAnd for each incorrect answer, there is a deduction of 1/3 marksThere is no deduction of marks for unattempted questions

For correct answers, candidates score one mark. 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. The formula to calculate the scores is given below:Total score= (Number of Right answers) x 1 – (Number of incorrect answers) x 1/3

RPF SI exam pattern is such that it comprises CBT 1, PET/PMT, Document Verification and Medical Exam. The CBT comprises three sections. The standard of questions is of graduation-level. Each question carries one mark and there is also negative marks. Candidates are required to obtain 35 per cent marks (30 per cent marks by SC and ST candidates) to qualify the CBT. Questions in the test are asked from General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The test carries a total of 120 marks. PET is qualifying in nature and candidates are given different tasks.
