This method ensures that no candidate is disadvantaged or advantaged due to the difficulty level of the question papers varying across different shifts. The computer-based tests (CBT), which are administered in two parts, follow a pattern in the RRB ALP (Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot) grading scheme. Candidates receive one mark for each right response in both phases. On the other hand, incorrect responses have consequences. In the case of two or more candidates securing the same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria, i.e., the older person is given higher seniority.

RRB ALP CBAT comprises several test batteries. Candidates are required to qualify each test batteries. The questions set in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP,  70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

RRB ALP exam pattern for CBT 2 is divided into two parts-Part A and Part B. The details regarding both the parts are given below:Part APart A of CBT 2 comprises 100 objective-type questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering and General Awareness on Current Affairs.
