Some universities conduct their own test for admission and scholarships, like Chandigarh University, LPU, VIT, etc.
And some states organise their entrance exams to take admission into the colleges in their states, like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, etc.
The maximum colleges accept JEE Mains for admissions.
So don't take tension about the admission. If you have scored well in JEE Mains, you can get a good college. You are not required to give any entrance exam.

Hello,
From this year onwards, TN will offer admissions based on marks obtained in class 12th. Hence data of previous years is of no use. You, therefore, need to register yourself with admission procedure of Anna University and hope for the best.

Dear Hari, SAMS college is a superb option for mechanical engineering. Since, they run marine/merchant navy courses, their lab and workshop set up are much better that are actually needed for mechanical engineering.
