Except a few, almost all the universities in the USA grant admission through the SATs.

2260 is very good score and if he is willing to attempt it again and get an even better score he can definitely get into top universities. Even now he'll get into good universities.

Hi,
The best way is to attempt few mock tests and identify your strengths and weaknesses and then start preparing. College board provides the details of 20 subjects which you can take so choose and go through the material carefully. All you need is lot of practice to train your brain in attempting it.

Hi Amisha, there is no rule stating SAT can be given only thrice. Research shows after three to five attempts your score and performance will most likely be the same. Hence test takers are encouraged to wrap it up in three attempts. If you take the test more than thrice it is not going to affect your application until and unless your scores are stagnant and you are not showing any improvement after repeated attempts. Also, admission decisions are taken by the university and depends on the overall application package of the applicant. Yes, SAT must be taken.
SAT subject tests are optional and depends on the university requirements. You must check the same on the admission requirements page of the university. You have not mentioned much details to guide you further. Good luck!
