SBI clerk Selection Process

The Preliminary and Mains Exams, as well as a Local Language Test, are the two primary steps in the selection process for the SBI Clerk post, commonly known as the Junior Associate function. Candidates must answer 100 multiple-choice questions in three different sections of the preliminary exam: reasoning ability, numerical ability, and English language. Each incorrect response results in a 0.25-mark penalty during the 60-minute exam. Although the prelims are meant to shortlist applicants for the subsequent round, the scores earned during this phase are not taken into account for the final selection. With 200 questions that must be answered in two hours and forty minutes, the Mains Exam is more extensive.

Compared to other banks, SBI Clerks have greater opportunities to become Probationary Officers. The primary cause is SBI's expedited promotion procedure. Those chosen for the SBI Clerk post will serve a minimum of six months on probation. It might, however, be extended in light of a candidate's performance. Every two years, SBI holds an internal exam for individuals hoping to advance in their careers. Only after working for the bank for three years is a clerk eligible to take the internal exam. Those who pass the internal exam are appointed as Trainee Officers (TOs) for a two-year term. Following the two-year probationary period, they are hired as Cadres for the Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II).
