School of Engineering and Technology, CMR University conducts an entrance exam to select candidates for PhD course. Candidates with M.Phil degree from a recognised university are exempted from taking the entrance examination, if the degree has been obtained on or after July 11, 2009. Selected candidates are further called for a personal interview round.

The university admits candidates for PhD course twice a year in the months of January and July. However, applications are invited throughout the year. The school also accepts COMEDK, JEE Main or KCET for BTech programme. SOET selects candidates for PhD coursed based on the entrance test conducted by the university.
