Faculty:
The faculty is highly qualified. Some of the eminent and experienced personalities in their respective sectors are part of the faculty at SPA Delhi. For the course to be fruitful for a students career, proper guidance from a talented faculty is very important. The faculty at SPA Delhi is deemed to be friendly and supportive towards the students. The academic aspect of the college experience includes the curriculum taught to students by very qualified teachers. The curriculum at relevant and the training provided by the teachers prepare the students for the professional setting.
Infrastructure:
The college lacks a little when it comes to infrastructure since it was established 75 years ago. However, there are infrastructural facilities like wi-fi, labs, a sports complex, a library along with a medical facility on campus. The college library has some of the best collections of books along with archives that date back to the 1950s. The classrooms and studio workshops are in good condition for the students to use. The institution is also not short on electronic and computer facilities. For student refreshments, the college also has a cafeteria along with an ample auditorium to accommodate a good number of students.
Hostel and Mess:
There are two wings of the hostel at SPA Delhi. One within the Planning campus and the other within the Maharani Bagh campus. The rooms are allotted to the first years on the basis of their merit as well as performance. Though getting a room at the hostel can be tricky. The hostel life for the students at SPA Delhi is fun and with all the events like sports tournaments, festival celebrations, DJ Nights etc. organised by the student council on the hostel grounds. With all the stress around you while you study a course like architecture, having a fun environment around you is necessary to unwind. They serve good food at the SPA hostel mess and the mess staff is also hospitable and friendly.
Events and Cultural Societies:
The environment at SPA Delhi is lively and fun, with all these events that require student participation. Events like fashion shows, exhibitions, workshops, orientations, gaming nights and festive celebrations are all hosted by the student council. The college also hosts Utopia which is an annual fest organised by SPA, Delhi. The council also organises many sports-related events with great excitement and zeal. The council also has a number of cultural clubs for drama, literature, dancing, singing etc. helping keep up the inclusivity of the institution. These events are good for entertainment and the students can also join these clubs and which can help them enhance skills in areas aside from professional skills that they gain academically.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at the college is invigorating and students from all over India are part of the crowd at SPA Delhi. The gender ratio is equal with no minority or majority. There is always something happening along with studying that makes the college experience refreshing. You get a broader perspective when you are studying with people that come from different parts of the world. The college is well diverse. The college is strictly against ragging. Given the state that the college is located in i.e. Delhi, the students get to study and learn about some of the greatest architecture through the monuments there. Students can also get a chance to explore different foods and cultures which only richens the college life experience for a student.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, a students college life experience is subjective and can differ from student to student. However, the facilities that the institute provides and the environment that has been created play a huge part in enriching the quality of experience. The college does have some scope or environment when it comes to infrastructure. The hostel's buildings need to be refurbished, in order to make them more spacious and accommodate more students and attention needs to be paid when it comes to extracurricular activities by the college management. But there are plenty of things to look forward to when you join SPA Delhi. Learning from experienced professionals in their respective fields, working with good quality types of equipment, joining cultural clubs, and receiving training for working in the professional setting through internships that help students with industrial exposure are some of the many pros while studying at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi.
