The eligibility criteria for M.Tech in computer science in IIT and other reputed institutes is Bachelors degree in Engineering / Technology from a recognized Institution and a valid GATE score in CS. In addition, student desiring to do M.Tech must have minimum 60% marks in graduation degree.

There are research grants, coming from the UGC. Various institutions are funded by the Tatas and Birlas. Plenty of encouragement is found, offered for the scientists and their salaries are satisfactory.
