Hello,
Design schools are started and run by state government. There are states and there are such schools. In some cases, the schools of designs run by states are simply superb while in some cases these are not worth mentioning. Hence, all cannot be painted by same brush.
What used to happen in olden times was the beurocratic approach that resulted in late decisions, which in turn hampered the untrammeled growth of these schools. Decision making used to be lethargic and hence, placements were also problematic.

You can opt for any stream you are interested in. Most advertising agencies recruit candidates with a formal management or advertising/mass communication qualification. Preference is given for MBA's for posts in the market research, client servicing and media planning departments.
