There are particularly two aspects, one when you look from the normal consumer point of view other from the company/industry point of view.
When we say of technology, no technology will be thrown away its just the tools will become much more advanced and powerful.
These cloud services have the back end supported by lots of codes and programming languages. For example if one needs to create a PaaS (Platform as a Service) to simplify a SQL database, then the system is most likely to be made with the help of Mongo. The value of the PaaS is that some of the common DB Administration tasks and System Administration tasks will be absorbed by the service or if you may want to function a AWS RDS service for higher performance of database you may option for Open Source technology.
Hence, in short cloud has made the technology quicker and smarter but not made technologies obsolute from an enterprise point of view.

Being a Java J2EE developer for more than 3 years, what I understood from my experience is that, there are still wider/ larger scope for these technologies.
If you are pretty good in the most basic concepts of Java (abstraction, polymorphism, inheritance, naming conventions etc. ) you would find it easier to learn and grasp other technologies, which is an added advantage for Java developers.
However, once you are inside an organisation as a Java developer, you would find too many Java resources surrounding you ( which is a bitter truth obviously :) ). So, to stand out of the crowd, it would be always helpful to learn or to to get into project works on Java frameworks such as Structs, Spring, Hibernate, ATG etc.
Also, UI look and feel for web based applications are given predominant considerations nowadays. So don't ever loose a chance where you are getting chances to closely work with UI frameworks.
I was telling these based out of my short experience till date in IT field. Please be updated and be in pace with evolving industry, keeping in mind the fact that ' Change is inevitable' :)

These are some of your options today as a JavaScript developer.
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery: You can make stand alone websites or websites that connect to a back-end, which will be handled by a separate team. You might have to work on frameworks such as Bootstrap and Semantic UI (which make your job a lot easier once mastered).
Angular/ Backbone/ React/ Vue/ Ember: All of these are JavaScript frameworks/libraries for building single page, highly interactive websites. Consider these as an icing on top of everything mentioned in the previous point. All of these solve the same problem differently, and you will have to work with whatever suits your or your employers needs.
Node JS: Thanks to Node, you can also dive into the back end/server side programming without having programmed in any other language except JavaScript.
The MEAN/MERN stack: Pick an MV* framework from point 2, add Node from point 3, and throw in a database (Mongo DB in this case). There, you are now a full stack JavaScript developer. Okay, you are not, but you just added a lot of value to yourself.
Mobile/cross platform app development with Ionic/PhoneGap/React Native: All of these use JavaScript and other supporting technologies. Not many people take them seriously though.
There are also complete solutions like Meteor, which pretty much handle the back end for you, and let you focus on the UI. You can choose from Angular, Blaze, and React for the UI.
To sum it up, there are ton of opportunities right now, but that doesnt mean its going to be like this forever. If we were talking about something rock solid, like Java, I could rest easy knowing my job is secure, at least for a while. With the web, its a new, shiny thing everyday. We love jumping wagons.

After BCA, scope of getting a government job is very low. If you are quite good in programming, You may apply in CRIS. All IT based activities are performed by CRIS, rest other software are designed by TCS/WIPRO but you wont be considered a Gov employee. I did BCA. But Later I Switched to Government exams. Currently I am preparing for SSC. So its upto you if you could mend your ways if you want a Government Job.
Also, you can apply for UPSC OR PSC. Also there is AFCAT(AIRFORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST), CDSE(Combined Defence Service Exam) which falls in UPSC, Civil Services, Sub-Inspecter post in POLICE. Its your choice which government you wanna serve State or Central. If you have a degree you can go for any government jobs that has vacancies. I just named a few above but you can apply for any of the government jobs available.

The placements for NIT-MCA are one of the best in the country. Students have bagged offers as high as 60 LPA and the placement percentage usually remains between 90% to 100%. However, this does not mean that you will get an offer in 7 digits salary. Placement packages vary from company to company.
Simply speaking, if you have studied at least what was taught in the class, have cgpa good enough to satisfy the Eligibility criteria of the companies, you have fair chances of getting a good enough job offer.
The MCA course at IIT Roorkee has sadly been discontinued since last year. Last few batches of MCA are going to pass out in the next couple of years. Still I am going to answer the question assuming a hypothetical situation where in the course may get restarted next year.
The placements are a mixed bag. Most companies do not know about the MCA course and hence do not open it. It is up to the placement representative of the MCA batch to educate the Central Placement Team guys about MCA and get as many companies to be opened as possible. You do get to sit for some of the top companies like MS, Amazon, Directi, Inmobi Symantec, Nvidia. I believe even Google opened up this year. So if you have worked hard, you can make something out of it.

In Data warehousing and Analytics, lack of standard certifications have made it very hard for recruiters to identify "A" league professionals from impostors. When the topic of certification comes, there are basically two questions, why to get certified and how and what to get certified. I would first answer what and then answer why.
Irrespective of technology, The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) has been a provider of Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) certification where professionals can choose their core skills and appear for the exam that suits the same. The flip side that professionals see to it is that it's not associated with any product in specific and just theory can be good at Architect profile but at career levels where professionals need to implement solutions this might not be able to impress recruiters with this certifications.
