Journalism is more of a traditional form of Mass Media, which may not have the advanced and development communication tools in learning. I wish to make it clear that the universities may call the degree by any name the things taught are basically the same. Please read the following answer:
The Degree in question and focus is the Mass Media Degree which is same as Graduation in Mass Communication, B.A. Mass Media, B.J. M. C. etc. Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication is the Foundation Degree in India, because our school do not have this domain as a specialisation. Media Studies or some other related subject is just part of the curriculum of Humanities and Arts in Senior Secondary and doesn't have a major role. Hence, B.A. Remains a less preferred degree for getting a job quickly. Having said this, I must clarify that B.A. Mass Communication is a good option to make a career in Media. After all, one has to somewhere start learning where the career is to be taken. B.A. Mass Communication done from average institutions in India doesn't lead to a good career possibility unless the student has earned and excelled in real media skills. It is suggested that after doing Mass Communication, B.A. In India with good skills of media and communication, one can see jobs abroad as well as in India. But, there has to be specialisation or a key skill and interest developed to seek job knowing that Mass Communication is a very vast domain. A Degree in Journalism is necessary these days to enter the ever-expanding domain of jobs and careers. The media houses need thousands of youngsters each year to take up jobs that vary from News reporting to graphic designing' from camera to content writing and from simple public relation activities to event management at big levels. A degree is worth. Question is about the utility of a Distance Education mode. There is a difference between the Regular and Distance Modes and that is of the Level of Teaching-Learning. Regular Studies give enough amount of exposure as well as the opportunity for the students to expand the horizons of skills and expertise. The Distance Mode limits the scope of that. If there are valid reasons and the learners is determined to ensure that the learning will not be caged because of the Distance mode, it can be done from a good Distance Learning University/Institution. IGNOU, Symbiosis, IIMC are the known names.

Videography is meant to be something with the camera and is not advised to be done through distance mode. The above things cannot be imparted through distance mode and that's is why it is not advised to have a course in acting or even anchoring through distance mode. These areas of expertise are not theory-based subjects and can never be made a theory based alone. The students need exposure and real-time experience. Everything is good in itself, but you have to know what you want to do. Some people like to do sound and video works and some like to do web design and development. But you will get success only when you are having interest in that, so first observe yourself and the field. Find yourself ask questions to yourself what you want, your like and dislikes, your passion and quality of your work is good in which field. When you will try to find yourself, you will get success or else if you are wasting your time finding others and their mistakes, you will get negativity and depression. This all applied when you like to work for yourself not for money. But when you come to the point of money, you have to check which option is having a good pay scale and is having more requirements in the field. So, according to me sound and video editing option is better, because in the industry you will find hundreds of companies for web design and development and thousands of employees in this field but in the field of sound and editing, situation is different.
