In the past five to ten years of period, the field of architecture has not just evolved but changed in a very significant way. To understand this, you need to do the comparison between the past and current methodologies. Earlier, the colleges in India used to teach architecture with less number of tools because the industry was not flourished at that time. But now, there is the introduction of new methods, new techniques in the teaching stream of architecture.
Now, students are able to get real time live projects of the companies to enhance their class room learning. In the field of architecture, the companies and industries are flourishing because of two reasons - The huge investment in this sector and the merging of foreign companies with the Indians.

B.Tech stands for Bachelor of technology while B.Arch is Bachelor of architecture. B.Tech is related to the field of engineering and technology and it has many branches. But B.Arch is a specific degree which is in the field of architecture. Some of the major differences are:
1)B.Tech is usually a 4-year course (some courses are of 5-years duration) and B.Arch is a 5-years course.
2)B.Tech deals with the technical aspects of engineering like manufacturing, production, development and application while B.Arch deals with the designing and development of the buildings including the interior and exterior.
3)After a B.Tech, one can find jobs in the technical fields like industries, manufacturing companies, and even IT sectors whereas a B.Arch graduation can find jobs in the construction companies, designing institutes, etc.
4)B.Tech has many branches like electrical, mechanical, civil, marine, industrial, chemical, etc. While B.Arch is a specific degree with no other branches. Both these are good choices for a successful career. It depends on the individual's interest in selecting any of these.

The field of architecture has evolved greatly over the years. A decade ago, the tools, approach and the method of application of the knowledge in architecture schools was very different from what we have today. Earlier the maps and designs were made with the use geometrical tools whereas in the current scenario, the use of computer software makes it easier. In short, technology has widened the scope and approach. Hence accordingly, there have been many additions to the syllabus and course structure. The entire programme has been given more practical approach. The primer institutions are also modifying their syllabus to suit the current industry demands. The placements have become more systematic and more talent based as now with the help of technology students are able to present more realistic projects and get better placements and better packages.

As per the latest government data, that employment rate of landscape architect is expected to grow at 5% in the coming decade. However, the job profiles are similar, which includes: 1)Town planner 2)Urban planner 3)Transport planner 4)Planning engineer 5)Structure architect 6)Building inspector
Government sector: Government Departments related to Urban and Town planning, Government operated Housing schemes, Government Transportation Projects (Highways, Railways and Metros etc.), Government Construction and rehabilitation projects, PWD job posts, Municipal Corporation job posts, etc.
Private sector: When it comes to the private sector, firms indulged in Realty Development, Construction firms, Architecture and Interior Design firms, Public Structure Construction firms (PPP model- like roads and bridges etc.) recruit M.Plan grads.
Pay scale: The pay scale would obviously be higher as compared to a B.Plan graduate. Initially, these grads can earn around 30,000-50,000 Rupees per month.
