Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level MBA entrance test, conducted quarterly by the All India Management Association (AIMA). You should go for both the exams if you belong to Tamil Nadu otherwise, only MAT, if you want to pursue an MBA.

It is very nice to know that you are interested to continue your studies and take up course for graduation in engineering after completion of your Diploma. It is good. After completion of Diploma a student can get admitted into second year of engineering directly under what is called as lateral method of admission. As to your query I can say with certainty that there is no lag whatsoever. The moment you finish your Diploma you can apply through the portal of directorate of technical education of your state for registering your name for lateral admission in Engineering. Your MAT score is good but SKCET accepts only TANCET scores. You may apply for management exam separately in SKCET. Then, you will be eligible.
