Hi,
I have put down the meaning of sociology here. Sociology is the scientific study of society, including patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and culture. It is a social Science that uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop a body of knowledge about social order, acceptance, and change.

Hello Saurabh, Very interesting query. As per my information for general subjects eligibility is normally only graduation from any recognised university. In case of M.A. In English, you can definitely do it from IGNOU if you are a graduate from recognised university. I am attaching a link that will give you all required information about this from IGNOU. http://www.ignou.ac.in/.
