Sociology is the subject in which students study about society and its diversity, culture, religious belief, language and many more related to society issues. This is not so much tough subject which requires background of arts stream. One can go for Undergraduate course after 12th from any stream. Sociology covers human behavior, cultures, trends and phenomenon. The scope ends at individual human behavior, psyche and personalities. That's where psychology takes over.
I once had a sociology professor tell me I couldn't put in my research that a participant was upset at my research question, because I wasn't qualified to know if they were angry. As a double major in psychology it was clear the participant was angry. In psychology I could make this distinction, but sociology avoids explaining how the human brain works in social explanations.

For an engineering student, it is quite tough to go for Masters in Economic as in whole academic period, students study PCM and no economics, but in Master's degree, a student has to get in-depth knowledge in this subject and needs an introduction to economics before joining MA in Economics. As Economics is a complex subject so after a small introduction to an economics student can get some base for the syllabus and understand the syllabus easily.
