Currently, there is no software engineering course which can be pursued from IACT. However, there are many other courses if you are interested. Please refer to the link provided below for a list of courses which are on offer at this institute.

In the study curriculum of software engineering, the study comprises of different programming languages such as C, C+, Java, Dot NET, C#, etc. These programming languages are used to design different types of software, applications & games, etc. Field of software engineering is appropriate for those candidates who have creative minds and want to develop something new using the computer programs. Today software engineering is playing a key role in almost every sector. Maths is important but only for the first few semesters. The main subject you have to learn are programming languages.

Dear Gaurav,
Don't even think that just after doing B.Tech CSE you can get the job in Apple or Google type companies. Apart from your academics, these companies do consider several other factors to give you the job. India produces lacs of IT engineers annually. You have to proof the best among them. Let me clarify you in detail:
(1) For academics, do B.Tech & M.Tech in CSE from institution like IITs or NITs. Most desirable combination is B.Tech+M.Tech+MBA. It is preferred if you do your Masters from abroad. Stanford or Wharton.

Hello Gaurav,
It will help if you have some background of IT in 12th, when doing engineering. But which branch you will get in the admission process entirely depends on how you score in CET conducted for admissions to engineering colleges. Better the score, better the chances.

IIT Bombay is the best. IIT-Bombay is owned by the central government but VJTI is owned by the state government, government of Maharashtra. For IIT Bombay, one has to stay in their hostel and study. That is compulsory. But for VJTI, you can be a day student. Other than this, both are the best institutions.
