Software testing is a major component of software development and maintenance life cycle. Earlier, the majority of testing used to be manual. However, slowly testing is becoming tool based. It is forecasted that the age of manual testing is over and future will be in automation testing only. With innovation in automation, the requirement of testers will reduce drastically. Automation testing is still a good option provided you are not averse to a bit of programming and want to grow into a BA with domain knowledge and skills.
