If you learn any OOPS language such as Java or C#, it will help you to learn any other lanaguage or scripting lanaguage of software automation testing tool easily. If you have never programmed before, it would be best to start by using a script-friendly language like Python or Ruby which are easy to learn. You also advised to learn SQL.

Indian IT industry's majority projects and largest business revenue is from Application Development and Maintenance (ADM). ADM projects require more developers in comparison to tester. Most exciting component of software projects is development as its is challenging and require analytical & creative thinking. Developers are paid higher in comparison to testers. Therefore, if you have a choice, you may opt for development jobs.

Without knowing what did you do in graduation, I would recommend you to undertake a long-term (12-18 months) course from a reputed institute.

obviously evry cmpny needs software testers so they are as important to organization as the developers. but still developers are more preferred than testers as developers for first have high salary than testers and also in almost everythng dev comes first. bt its not like that u cant go in testing. so if u had to choose b/w dev & testing then I suggest u to go for dev bt if u r getting testing then take it and start working.
