Admission to the SREC is moderately competitive. The minimum cut-off percentage for a student to apply for TNEA is 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2 examinations. Since no entrance exam is conducted, merit is attained purely based on the Class 12 performance and cutoff ranks in counseling. In some popular specializations, the cutoff is as high as above 180. Still, provided they meet all the eligibility criteria and are doing reasonably well in the exams, admission is ensured.
