With this rank in VIT, you can get a seat only under category 5 means you need to pay more than 5 lakhs per annum. So if you want you may try in the counselling.
But in SRM, your rank is good enough to get a good course.
Since your chances are very low at VIT, you can opt for SRM University.

Her rank is not bad but to get computer science engineering or information technology at the main campus her rank should be atleast 15000 or below as they are widely preferred courses at SRM University.

Getting admission through management quota is up to you as you need to pay more than 5-6 Lacs per annum. SRM University is also a good one but there is no need to go with management quota for SRM as I think it is not worthy.
If you plan for management quota, try in VIT as it is better than SRM.

Yes, you can also avail all the opportunities like the other who get admission through SRMJEE. For placements, your skills matter a lot and not the scores in SRMJEEE or your semester marks.
Universities assure placements, not salary packages.

When it comes between VIT and SRM, VIT would be better than SRM University.
So you need to prefer VIT-Vellore to SRM University. VIT has better rankings and offers better education. It is known for its placements so you can prefer VIT Vellore for mechanical engineering.
