As per your rank, you will not get mechanical at SRM, KTK campus. So, it will be better if you wait for your UPES results.

VIT is good as compared to SRM.
But still, try for exclusive management colleges.

You can go through Manipal University as it has better placements but if you are getting admission in SRM KTR campus, then you go it has also good placement.

10 + 2 (Higher Secondary) with mathematics mandatory or computer science with mathematics(minimum aggregate of 60%).

No, you must take part in the counseling process and you can get it as the closing rank for mechanical engineering is high and your rank is good. According to this, you can get it.
