Both are good private universities for B.Tech as it came under top ten private universities for B.Tech in India but I would suggest you to go through SRM University.

SRM University, Ramapuram campus is one of the good campuses after SRM University, Chennai.
Yes, it has high fee structure as you know SRM is a private university so the fee is absolutely high. So, if you are not getting any government college and you are economically strong, then you may go.

Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University is far better than SRM Chennai, but Indraprastha University is better in some aspects like fees, placement, location and faculty.

I'll make it short and crisp. SRM, Ramapuram campus is believed to have better faculty than SRM, Delhi. You can also try for the main campus. For now, Ramapuram is better than Delhi.

There are two ways of getting an admission in SRM University –
1. Merit quota
2. Management quota
CSE and IT are always most wanted and fill very fast. Even a 30000 rank will not be able to give you IT in main campus through merit quota. The merit quota fees is 1,80,000 + 15,000 /annum.
Now comes the other way.
Management quota-
The fees currently is 3,50,000/annum. You can apply for IT through management quota but you will have to pay more.

Both are good colleges, but considering your rank you will get mechanical engineering in category 2 or 3 of VIT-Vellore, but in my opinion you will get more exposure in VIT, Vellore than SRM University.
