SRM University admits students based on a valid score of SRMJEE. Candidates who qualify the exam are offered seats via a university-level counselling process. There is no seat reservation policy found on SRM IST. However, other SRM University campuses might offer seat reservations for Engineering courses. Admission to all the seats of BTech are done through a common selection process. Candidates seeking PhD admission are required to appear for an entrance test conducted by SRM IST. This test is conducted via CBT mode. This test is followed by a presentation and PI round conducted by the related department. However, those who have qualified for UGC NET (including JRF)/CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from writing the deemed university-level entrance exam for admission.
