CGL exam is done by Staff Selection Commission to provide Group B and C officers to various posts in top ministries and departments of the Government. After clearing CGL you can get into various Group A, B and C posts to work for top ministries, departments and organisations of Indian Government like Divisional Accountant (CAG),  Inspector (Narcotics), Statistical Investigator, Inspector (Department of Post), Sub-Inspector (Central Bureau of Narcotics),  Auditor (C&AG),  Auditor (CGDA), Tax Assistant (CBEC),  Tax Assistant (CBDT),  Accountant/ Junior Accountant (Offices under C&AG),  Accountant/ Junior Accountant (CGA & others),  Senior Secretariat Assistant,  Compiler (Registrar General).  The basic salary for different levels in SSC CGL is as follows:Level 8: INR 47,600 to INR 1,51,100Level 7: INR 44,900 to INR 1,42,400Level 6: INR 35,400 to INR 1,12,400Level 5: INR 29,200 to INR 92,300Level 4: INR 25,500 to INR 81,100The grade pay is also determined by the Commission based on the SSC CGL post level. For example, for Level 8, the grade pay is INR 4,800, and for Level 7, it is INR 4,600.

After preliminary testing, preparation for Tier-2 will come. Paper I (Sections I and II except Module II and IV) at Mains Exam will be conducted online and is objective multiple-choice type.
