CGL 2017 :
Tier 4 may happen in November/December if the stay is vacated
CGL 2018:
Tier 1 will happen in Feb/March.

For IT officer, you need a very good rank. Target minimum 160 in tier 1 exam. And 340+ in tier 2. Total should be above 500 after tier 2 for good chances of selection in General category.

Yes of course. Once you have cleared the minimum qualifying criteria for the exam you are good to appear in it. Seats in CGL are around 10k each year. So if you come within it you can surely get a job. Good luck.

Before coming to your question directly, firstly discuss about the SSC. SSC the Staff Selection Commission is the organization, which is here to recruit the employees to various posts in different departments. SSC conduct the exam for government jobs for 2 level one is CHSL and CGL. CHSL is the exam, which is conducted for the candidates who just have cleared the 10+2 level and the designation one get after clearing the exam is LDC or DEO. Yes, staff selection commission conducts the SSC CGL exam every year, to recruit the various post under various ministries, departments, and organizations. SSC release the SSC CGL online application form in May. If you want to apply for this exam, then you must wait next year. SSC CGL Exam is conducted into four tiers and there are no interview process. If you are cleared all the tiers then you will get a post under SSC CGL 2017.
Tier 1 - Computer based written exam
Tier 2 - Computer based written exam
Tier 3 - Descriptive paper
Tier 4 - Skill test/ Typing test/ Document verification
In tier 1 exam, SSC provide 60 minute to solve 100 quest

Hi,
You can take some cues from my preparation strategy for SSC CGL. I was able to secure 165 in English Tier-2 in SSC CGL 2016 exam. I was in a habit of reading The Hindu newspaper. I think, it is one of the biggest contributor to my success. I used to read it for 1- 1.5 hours right from Front page, Editorial, Business, and Sports, National, International and some other news. So, indirectly, over a period of times, my English interpretation skills improved a lot. B.Tech students can give SSC CGL Exam.
Students who have completed B.Tech course or are in the final year of engineering can appear for the SSC CGL exam. The official web portal of SSC clearly mentions the eligibility factors for CGL aspirants.
