The tuition fees will be around Rs.1, 50,000/- per annum and the hostel with mess charges will be around 50000-60000/- per annum. But, if you stay in hostel, then you will be charges an extra 50000/-, as you may use the bus facility for going home in the weekends.
So, in all, if you come under Anna university counselling your total fees will be 2,00,000/- - 2,50,000/- per annum .

Both these are good colleges for doing engineering. Both are competitive with each other and are equal. If you consider education, placements and rankings, both will almost be the same.
So you can prefer any one of these for engineering. The only thing is that SSN comes under Anna University so the syllabus will be the same for all the affiliated colleges.
But SASTRA University has its own syllabus and curriculum as it is a deemed university.

Yes, SSN College of Engineering, Kalavakkam is better to do engineering. It is one among the top colleges to do engineering and it comes under Anna University.
In SSN, all branches do have good coaching and placements but you can go for CSE, mechanical or ECE as they have better placements.

Obviously, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) is better than Vel Tech University to pursue civil engineering as well as the other branches of engineering. It has a good reputation and the placements are also good.
