If two students score the same in the test, grades of class 12th are compared of the two and the one scoring the higher is given preference. The interview and the GD are also be kept in mind.
Once you get into a good college, your class 12th grades hardly matter. They will only matter during placements. Companies compare between two students based on their performance in college and, if needed class 12th grades are also taken into consideration.
