The total strength for seats for B.Ed admission is 1,000. These aspirants are admitted to Tamil medium (500 students) and English medium (500 students) based on rank list separately prepared for each medium. A total of 50 students are allotted to each Learner Support Centre. Candidates can get a seat in B.Ed based on their merit in UG/ PG examination.

TNOU offers two-year B.Ed Special Education in distance education mode via the Department of Special Education and affiliated colleges. The course is spread across four semesters. The duration is two-years for candidates with RCI recognised D.Ed Specialisation Education, Candidates can complete the programme within a maximum period of four years, after enrolment.For candidates who does not possess any RCI recignised D.Ed Special Education, the duration of the course is two and a half years. However, the student is permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of 5 years, after enrolment.
