Hi, First of all, let me tell you the eligibility to be an Income Tax Officer:-
1)To be eligible for becoming an Income Tax Officer one should hold a Bachelors degree of any stream.
2)The candidate must have attained the age of 18 years on 1st July of the year of examination and must not attain 27 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years of OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. The upper age limit will be relaxed in favour of certain categories of employees working under the government of India and defence services personnel. A Diploma is any stream is done on the basis of XII or Graduation. That way you are eligible. It will be beneficial to enhance your knowledge and will surely expand your career scope as well. However, I wish that it relates to your Ph.D. and other studies.

Yes, certificate in Accounts and Taxation has a bright scope in the market, but in the point of view of job, you have to show your knowledge and talent for taking a good job, in terms of money and company.

To become an Income Tax Officer, one should first of all enter the Income Tax Department as Income Tax Inspector or Tax Assistant. Then they can get promotion to the designation of Income Tax Officer after qualifying the departmental examination. First step required for joining as Income Tax Inspector or Tax Assistant is to qualify Combined Graduate Level examination. After that, personal interview is there for Income Tax Inspector post and Skill test is there for Tax Assistant post. Interested aspirants can apply for this All India Level competitive exam either online or offline.
