To be a professor in India, firstly you have to have Masters in your subject, then give an exam of NET. After passing this exam, you can go for a Ph.D, then you can be a professor in any government or private college.

As per the UGC Norms, to become a lecturer at the university or colleges one must have the post-graduation and NET qualification certificate. The UGC NET is conducted for the determination of the candidates for the assistant professor at the university and JRF awards in research. If you want to be a lecturer, you need to qualify the NET examination. Although you can apply for the teaching in the high school or Diploma colleges. The UGC NET and CSIR NET are two different exams, which are conducted for different exams. The candidates who have completed the post-graduation degree can make a career of assistant professor posts in universities or colleges, to pursue Ph.D. and for JRF Awards. The CSIR NET exam is conducted for the Science stream subjects that is physical Science, Chemical Science, mathematical Science, life Science, Earth Science. UGC NET is not conducted in rural development, but you can apply for the NET exam in similar subject I. e. Sociology. But you must have Master's degree to apply for the exam with minimum 55% aggregate marks. As per the latest notifications the NET Dec 2018 application process has been started from the 1st September 2018. If you fulfill all the requirements of the exam then hurry up and fill the form.

There is no fixed pattern to prepare for the NET exam. UGC NET is a national level exam and you must have deep knowledge of the subject. One important thing while preparing is the study material you are following. It must have easy to understand language, topic wise questions, previous year papers and sample question papers or mock test. There are various books and online study material available and it can be checked by review of the study material.
Also, go through the complete syllabus and make a strategy that you can complete the syllabus and revision on time. Also include the regular revision and mock test. Make your
