Hello Prachi,
No, you can't. The basic rule of NET exam is that the candidates can only apply for the exam with their masters' subject. According to your subject, you can apply for CSIR NET Earth Sciences in the place of UGC NET. It would be a better option for you. It is a national-level exam which is conducted for the Science stream students who want to become a researcher or a lecturer. To appear for the exam, you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in your masters. If you want to appear for junior research fellowship, then your age must be less than or equal to 28 years. Hello,
UGC NET exam is held every year in the month of June and December. The June exam process completed on 8th July 2018. Now it's time to prepare for the NET exam to be held in the month of December.
NET Exam is held in two phases- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is held in the aptitude and reasoning section, while Paper 2 is held in the subject you have selected in the master's programme (English in your case). There are more than 80 subjects in the UGC NET exam.
To prepare for the English section, you can take help from the books given below-
Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary
UGC NET English Literature by Arihant
Truemans English Liter

Hello Avinash, The candidates can apply for UGC NET exam on the basis of their post graduation subject. As you say you have done M.A. In Personnel Management and PGDBM, according to this you can appear for the NET exam in UGC NET Labour Welfare/Personnel Management/Industrial Relations/ Labour and Social Welfare/Human Resource Management and UGC NET Computer Science & Applications. But you have to fulfill the basic requirements of the exam such their education and age criteria. You should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in Masters. Hello Vicky,
The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year to determine the candidature for an assistant professor posts in the universities or the JRF awards. The eligibility for the exam is post graduation degree from recognised university. The final year candidates in their post-graduation are also eligible however they will be awarded with the certificate after the successful completion of the master's degree.
