The validity of HP TET is lifetime. Candidates who qualify the HP TET exam will be provided with the eligibility certificate so that they can apply for the teacher recruitment in Himachal Pradesh schools for JBT, Shastri, TGT (Non-Medical), Language Teacher, TGT (Arts), TGT (Medical), Punjabi Language Teacher and Urdu Language Teacher. However, candidates need to fulfill the age limit and eligibility criteria prescribed by the respective teacher recruitment agency to apply for the job.

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) releases the HP TET notification as a PDF download file that contains the important details regarding the exam including the exam dates, application process, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, result declaration criteria, etc. Candidates who want to appear for the HP TET exam must go through the official notification PDF carefully before submitting their applications online.

The HP TET eligibility criteria differs for all the papers- JBT TET, Shastri TET, TGT (Non-Medical) TET, Language Teacher TET, TGT (Arts) TET, TGT (Medical) TET, Punjabi Language Teacher and Urdu Language Teacher. The basic HP TET eligibility criteria that candidates must fulfil are:Candidates should complete graduation with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks.Candidates should possess a degree or Diploma in teacher training.There is no upper age limit to apply for the exam.

The HP TET exam question paper is set in bilingual language- English and Hindi languages. Each question in the exam, except for English language, is given in English and Hindi. The HP TET question paper is made available in two languages for every paper. In HP TET Shastri paper, the questions are partially Sanskrit and partially Hindi. Punjabi/ Urdu/ Language Teacher paper is Punjabi/ Urdu/ English only. Candidates need to read the questions carefully before marking their answers.

HP TET exam is conducted twice every year. The first session of the HP TET exam is held in June and the second sesion is held in November. However, the decision on the frequency of the exam is taken by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE). It is a state-level Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exam conducted by the HPBOSE. The HP TET exam is held to determine the eligibility of candidates as teachers in the Himachal Pradesh schools.
