Better if you go for PGs or personal flat, which are available in nearby areas like Karunamoyee, Newtown, Sector 5, near Technopolis IT Park etc. PGs and flats are safe and easily available. No hard and tough rules in pgs. You can inform and go wherever you want, but outsiders male/female friends will be not allowed in the PGS after 10:00 pm. Best of luck.
