If you are preparing for geology I would like to suggest to following tips for the exam. Read Basic techniques in structural geology by Stephen Marshak and Gautam Mitra. This will set the base for you. After reading first 4 chapters you will be able to appreciate the subject, solve questions and boost your confidence. These are some suggestions for you. Do not forget to study every topic thoroughly of IIT JAM Geology. You should study according to syllabus of Jam and do not try to quickly finish everything. Take your time and understand the concepts. If you are unable to complete the full syllabus. Then work on

Analyze the past year papers it gives you the idea what type of questions are going to be asked and from a single topic, which sections are important. Indulge yourself in a lot of practice.
