Marks obtained by students in the qualifying examinations conducted by various Boards or authorities will be equated with those from the Tamil Nadu State Board using a normalization method.For instance, if the highest mark in Physics for a State Board student is 100 and the highest mark for a student from another board is 90, both will be considered equal to 100. If a student from the other board scores 60 marks in Physics, given that the highest mark on that board is 90, their score will be normalized to 66. The normalization formula is (60/90) * 100 = 66.66%.After normalizing the marks for relevant subjects from different boards, the qualified students will be compiled into a common merit list.

The TNEA 2025 merit list is based on a total score of 200. In cases where candidates have the same marks, the inter-se merit will be determined using the following criteria:Percentage of marks in MathematicsPercentage of marks in PhysicsPercentage of marks in the optional subjectPercentage of total marks in the 12th Standard ExaminationDate of birth (with preference for older candidates)Random number (higher value given preference)The overall and community-wise rank lists can be found on the official TNEA website. College and branch allotments will be provisional and conducted online, based on candidates' choices, overall rank, and community rank. No separate announcements will be made in newspapers.

There is no score of TNEA, as TNEA is not an exam but a counselling process based on class 12 marks.The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) counselling is the first step in the selection process for B.Tech programmes in normal colleges in Tamil Nadu. candidates who wish to participate in TNEA counselling must pass in the HSC (Academic: both +1 and +2) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage is given below:General Category - 45%Backward Class including Backward Class Muslim - 40%MBC & DNC - 40%SC/SCA/ST - 40%The candidates will be selected based on their performance in the prescribed subjects, which will be scaled down to a total of 200 marks (Mathematics: 100, Physics: 50, Chemistry: 50) in the qualifying examination. The marks provided by the candidates through the TNEA 2025 application form will undergo normalization, and a merit list will be published based on the normalized scores. Based on the ranks of the candidates in the TNEA merit lists seats wil be allocatted in the various BTEch coursed offered by the TNEA participating colleges.

As per the First Graduate Tuition Fee Concession in TNEA, the Government have ordered to grant tuition fee concession to the candidates who are to be the first graduate in a family, those who are attending counselling and joined in professional courses in Government / Aided and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges. They have to submit the following:Certificate obtained from Head Quarters Deputy Tahsildar in the format prescribed in G.O. Electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate only will be accepted which necessarily should include name of applicant’s father, mother, father’s father, father’s mother, mother’s father, mother’s mother, brother(s) and sister(s) and joint declaration by himself and parent/guardian in the prescribed format.Note: If the applicant’s Brother or Sister has already availed First Graduate Tuition Fee concession for studying Professional Courses, then the applicant is not eligible for such concession.

Yes. This scheme is applicable in Self-Financing Engineering Colleges and Self-Supporting courses in Government Aided Engineering Colleges only that participae in the TNEA counselling. AICTE Tuition fee waiver scheme is applicable for B.E./B.Tech. courses only. Seats up to a maximum of 5 percent of sanctioned intake per course may be available under the scheme. Tuition fee waiver under First Graduate scheme is provided by Government whereas, AICTE TFW scheme is provided by the Management of the Institution. Sons and daughters of parents whose annual income is less than Rs.8.0 lakhs from all sources shall only be eligible under this scheme. All other fees except tuition fee will have to be paid by the candidate. Beneficiary student admitted under AICTE TFW scheme will not be allowed to change Institution / course under any circumstances.
