Absolutely, the National Institute of Electroics and Information Technology, Agartala is a  technology-oriented institute of higher education well recognised by various government bodies and organisations. Formerly known as, Tripura Engineering College.'NIELIT Agartala is affiliated to Tripura University .Approved by AICTE.It is the 11th Centre of NIELIT (formerly DOEACC Society) in the country and the 5th in the North-Eastern Region.In 2013, the mechanical and civil engineering branches of the institute were accredited by the National Boards of Accreditation for five years, while the electrical engineering branch was provisionally accredited for two years.According to NIRF Rankings 2022, the institute is ranked on 80th position among the Top Engineering Colleges in India.

To join the National Institute of Electronics and Information Techology (NIT, Agartala) also known as Tripura Engineering College, the students must follow the following guidelines:-First of all the candidate need to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and secure a merit list rank on the basis of marks obtained in this examination.To be able to appear in the JEE, one must have a minimum of 75% marks in Class XII Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (65% for SC/ST/)The candidate should be within the category-wise top 20 percentile in their respective Class XII board examination. Once you have secured a decent score in the JEE  register for the counselling process During the counselling process, candidates must select NIT Agartala as their preferred institute.If your name comes in the merit list than for NIT Agartala, you would be selected and given an admission in the premier institute.Various other National-level examinations are also there to join NIT Agartala depending on the popular course you wish to join, these are:-GATE for M.TechIIT JAM for M.ScCAT for MBAFor P.hD. Candidates of All India Services Officers born in Manipur-Tripura cadre and the children of the employees of State Government posted outside Tripura, are eligible to apply.
Candidate who is allotted a seat in the past inside or outside the State on the basis of the result of Tripura Joint Entrance Examination he/she shall not be eligible to appear at the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination in current year or subsequent year unless he/she has surrendered the allotted seat in writing within specific time to the appropriate authority.
Candidate is not permanent resident of Tripura but his / her parent is an Officer on deputation to the Government of Tripura / Officer of the Central Government working in Tripura continuously for a period of 3 or more years are eligible to apply.
Candidate parents must have been staying in Tripura continuously for not less than 5 (five) years immediately prior to the date of applying are eligible to apply.B.Sc.Candidate must be a permanent resident of Tripura and either the candidate or his/her parent must have been residing in the state of Tripura continuously for not less than 10 years.
