UGC NET Eligibility

Hello,
As per the NTA guidelines, aspirants who have qualified master's degree or are enrolled in the post-graduation, can apply for the exam. So, to appear for the exam, firstly you have to enroll in LL. M. degree. Before applying for the exam make sure you fulfill other requirements also. To appear for the exam, you have to score at least 55% aggregate marks for General/OBC category or 50% aggregate marks for SC/ST/PwD category in the post-graduation. You can appear for the NET exam after completion of a degree or in the qualifying year. If you want to appear for NET JRF then your age must not exceed 30 years. For LLM aspirants the minimum age limit is 33 years. Or if you want to apply for Assistant Professor then you have no need to fulfill this age criteria.

There is no age limit for assistant professor. Academic Qualification
Applicant should have a Masters degree with at least 55% marks. Applicants from reserved category should have 50 percent number as they are given 5% relaxation in PG marks. Candidates appearing for post-graduation final year exams can also apply. A relaxation of upto 5 years to the candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in the armed forces upto the first day of the month of UGC NET session. There are some reservation criteria in UGC NET Exam for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and Transgenders. If you qualify the UGC NET Exam with having 54% aggregate marks in postgraduation, it is fine. You must have pursued postgraduation in one of the or related to 81 subjects conducted by NTA NET. You must have secured minimum 55% aggregate marks in postgraduation (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Transgenders). There is no age limit if you want to apply for the post of Assistant Professor. But for JRF the maximum age limit is 30 years.

According to the NTA guidelines, aspirants have to choose the same or the related subject in which they have completed their post-graduation. The Age limit for the UGC NET Exam is divided into two criteria:
1. JRF: 30 years is the maximum age limit and 3-5 years age relaxation is given to the category candidates.
2. Assistant professor: There is no age limit. The qualification criteria, to appear in the UGC NET Exam you must have qualified or qualifying your Post-Graduation with minimum 55% for General category or 50% for OBC/SC/ST/ Transgender category candidate.

According to the NET exam guidelines you can apply for the exam in the subject which you had in post-graduation or related to that. Therefore, you are not eligible for UGC NET Electronic Science. However, you can appear for CSIR NET exam. This exam is organized for the science stream candidates who want to become researcher or lecturer. CSIR NET is conducted in five subjects. As per your post-graduation subject, you can apply for the physical science. However, make sure, you fulfill the eligibility criteria of CSIR NET Physical Sciences. Yes, you can apply for the UGC NET Electronics exam. The UGC NET exam is national level exam, which is held for the junior research fellowship and to become an assistant professor. The Candidates can apply for the NET exam if they have completed the post-graduation degree. Refer official notification at NTA website for the eligibility details.
In addition, you need to choose the subject in which you have completed the PG degree. As you have completed the post-graduation in nano-science, you can apply for UGC NET Electronics. You also need to fulfill the age limit criteria for JRF while lectureship does not require any age limit.
