UGC NET Notifications

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the UGC NET 2024 December session on November 19, 2024. The application form link for UGC NET 2024 is now also available. Candidates must pay the examination fee by December 11, 2024 (up to 11:50 P.M.). The correction window for the UGC NET 2024 December session application will be open from December 12 to December 13, 2024 (up to 11:50 P.M.). The UGC NET 2024 December exam is scheduled to take place from January 1 to January 19, 2025, covering 85 subjects.

The UGC NET notification, typically released in April by the National Testing Agency (NTA), contains crucial details about the upcoming exam. The notification specifies the opening and closing dates for online applications. It announces the scheduled dates for the UGC NET exam, which is usually held in June and December.The notification explains the online application process, including the official website for application submission and the documents required. UGC NET 2024 exam will be conducted for a total of 83 subjects. UGC NET exam is conducted by NTA twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or Assistant Professor. Candidates need to choose the UGC NET subject as per their area of specialisation in their post-graduation degree course while submitting their online applications. If a candidate’s post-graduation subject is not mentioned in the subject list prescribed by UGC, he or she can choose a related subject. The official UGC NET notification informs, “Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates, whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of NET subjects, may appear in a related subject.”

The UGC NET December'23 notification was released by NTA on September 30, 2023. Prospective candidates had the opportunity to fill out the application form during the window from September 30 to October 31, 2023. The age limit for the UGC NET exam varies based on the category of the candidate. For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the maximum age limit is 31 years as of January 1 in the year of the exam, with certain relaxations for reserved category candidates. The UGC NET exam conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA does not have a Personal Interview round. The selection of candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Assistant Professor is based solely on the performance of the candidates in the written exam conducted in two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The candidates who qualify for the UGC NET exam are required to apply for the JRF or Assistant Professorship vacancies in various universities and colleges that are advertised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or other government bodies. The selection process for these positions may involve additional rounds such as a Personal Interview presentation, or group discussion, depending on the institution's recruitment policy.
