Yes, you can apply for the UGC NET exam, because for Assistant Professor there is no age limit. But, make sure you can fulfill other eligibility criteria also. As per the exam guidelines, you should have Master's degree to appear for the NTA NET 2019 exam with minimum 55% aggregate marks if they belong to General category or minimum 50% aggregate marks if they are from OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category. According to the NTA guidelines, aspirants have to choose the same or the related subject in which they have completed their post-graduation. The Age limit for the UGC NET Exam is divided into two criteria:
1. JRF: 30 years is the maximum age limit and 3-5 years age relaxation is given to the category candidates.
2. Assistant professor: There is no age limit. The qualification criteria, to appear in the UGC NET Exam you must have qualified or qualifying your Post-Graduation with minimum 55% for General category or 50% for OBC/SC/ST/ Transgender category candidate.
